Hi, everybody:
|
Our Association fosters socializing among friends and former fellow co-workers by publishing a quarterly newsletter devoted to retiree affairs, by sponsoring luncheons and other ways of getting together, by maintaining this web site, and through various other activities commonly associated with alumni groups. Retirees meeting near the Western Union facility in northern New Jersey publish the newsletter and maintain this website and have sponsored regional organizations of Company retirees throughout the country. There is probably a RWUEA organization functioning near where you live.
We have also represented the interests of our members and other former
employees in relation to the Company in matters such as insurance coverage
and pension benefits.
Activities of the organization are conducted by members on a voluntary
basis.

Membership in our organization is a bargain. Fees were set at a level
designed to cover our out-of-pocket costs and are very reasonable at $7.00
per year. Any present or former Western Union employee or the surviving
spouse of a member is eligible to join, and if you qualify we urge you to do
so.
We are all getting older, and a stream of new members is obviously needed to
maintain the vitality of our organization. The board has therefore
emphasized recruiting new members this year among its many activities. Our problem has been
that we are unable to determine who has retired so that we can make ourselves
known to them.
Unfortunately, the Company,
due to legal and
privacy concerns, can
not give us a list of those who have already
retired nor give us information about our organization to employees
who are retiring.
While our newsletter may find its way to some of these prospects, we think
that the most
productive way of reaching them is by having those who are already members
or are familiar with the organization spread the word. So, we would very
much appreciate your making an effort to inform any present or former
employees among your acquaintances about our organization and to invite them
to join. Or advise us of any prospects you know of and we will contact them
ourselves.
And remember, you don't have to be a retiree to join.
So much for the sales pitch.
The best of health and happiness to you all. We pray for those stationed
around the world to protect our country, and look forward to their safe
return. God bless America.
